The MQ216 gas sensor belongs to the MQ gas sensing module series. The MQ series is well known for its innate ability to effectively and timely report harmful concentrations of dangerous gasses. MQ216 is an alkane/flammable gas sensor used to detect and identify harmful concentrations of LPG (liquid petroleum gas), iso-butane, propane, methane, alcohol, and dense smoke in the immediate vicinity. MQ216 sensor features a wide array of design capabilities such as ESD protection and overvoltage protection. The sensor can easily be interfaced with any MCU (Arduino, Raspberry-pi, etc.) for analog data extraction.
MQ216 gas sensor has a high sensitivity to hydrogen gas and a fast trigger response time. The sensor’s output is analog resistance corresponding to the concentration of hydrogen gas in the vicinity. The drive circuit is very simple; all that is required to do is to power up the heater coil with 5V, add a load resistance, and connect the output to an ADC.
