MQ214 is a Methane (CH4) gas sensor that detects the concentrations of methane gas (CH4) in the air and outputs its reading as an analog voltage. MQ214 belongs to the MQ gas sensor series, well known for its quick and timely response corresponding to a harmful concentration of dangerous gases in the immediate vicinity. The gasses detected by these gas sensors can be deadly in high concentrations, so proper precautions and PPE are a must. MQ214 offers a wide array of features such as ESD protection and overvoltage protection. The module is easily interfaceable with a wide array of microcontrollers (Arduino, NodeMCU, etc.), allowing for easy analog data extraction.
The sensing material of the MQ214 gas sensor is SnO2, with much lower conductivity in clean air. It outputs detection by method of cycling high and low temperatures and detects CH4 when low temperature (heated by 1.5V). The sensor’s conductivity is higher along with the gas concentration rising.
