Mercury Open Optical Module KY-017 Tilt Switch for Arduino

A Mercury Open Optical Module KY-017 has a mercury blob as a means to close its internal contacts. If the switch is level, the mercury bridges the 2 contact points. But if the switch is tilted, the mercury moves on one side and the contact points are open. The Keyes Mercury Open Optical Module KY-017 is a simple and effective motion-detecting module. When your autonomous vehicle or robot is tilted the mercury ball inside the tube will move to complete an electrical circuit which will in turn send a signal to your Arduino control system. Commonly used in bike anti-theft systems where the tilt is detected and an alarm or SMS is sent to the owner.
